sunday bliss

One of my favorite things at Farmers Market on Sunday morning is not the fruits or vegetables, but a small (around 4 inches wide), visually deceiving, pastry. The booth's mainstay is organic breads. I was not drawn to the display because it looks too healthy. Months ago my friend, Lynne introduced me to their pretzel croissants. They were not at all healthy. They are buttery, and salty and taste wonderful. I did not think they had anything better than that, but they do. Pictured is their reaper bun. It does not look like much of anything, but it is packed with flavor. The top is like a pretzel croissant, buttery and flakey, and dusted with granular sugar. The bottom has a slight crunchy, caramel coating. When you bite into this pastry, it is pure heaven. It is a flavor sensation of sweet and crunchy and salty and buttery. Hats off to the pastry chef.
